What's covered?
- General nature of laser radiation
- Uses of industrial lasers
- Potential health hazards of laser equipment, types
and severity of harm
- Meaning of laser warning labels and lase classes
- Proper use of hazard control procedures and PPE
during operation activities
- Additional precautions required for maintenance
and non-routine activities (such as adjustment
work)
- Familiarity with SOPs, emergency actions and
accident reporting
-Role of an LSO with the company​

Up to 10 people per session, each will receive a
copy of the presentation as an aide-memoire and a
certificate of training upon completion of a short
written test after the session.

What's covered?
- Deeper understanding of the laser class system
and laser hazards
- Understanding of the requirements of laser safety
systems
- Use and understanding of ISO 12100 risk
assessment procedure
- Use and understanding of RAMS
- General understanding of hazard distances
- General understanding of principles of beam -
containment, burn-out time,s and dynamic risk
assessment.
This course is for advanced users, their direct
managers/supervisors and people wanting aa
greater understanding of laser risk management
and control.
Completion of the laser user's awareness course is
a prerequisite of the laser supervisor/manager's
course.
Up to 5 people can take part in the session who
would receive the presentation as an aide memoire
and a certificate of training upon completing a short
written test after the session.
Laser Safety OfficierS (LSO)
2 Hour Online Course

What's covered?
- LSO's responsibilities and how they align to the
EU laser safety standards
- Spatial, spectral, and temporal characteristics of
lasers
- Units and quantities used to specify laser
emission
- Knowledge of the relevant EU/UK standards and
regulations for industrial lasers including the EU
Machinery Directive/Regulation
- Requirement and correct use of warning signs
and controlled areas
- In-depth knowledge of both laser and laser
processing collateral hazards
- Control procedures to control and eliminate risk
using ISO 12100 and ISO 13849
- Calculating Max. permissible exposure (MPE) and
nominal hazard distances (NOHD, NSHD)
- Calculating PPE and enclosure requirements
- Relationship of EU/UK standards to EC Artificial
Radiation directive, HSE Control of Artificial
radiation at work regulation 1140, and HSE
PUWER regulation
- Creating risk assessments and SOPs
- Incident/accident logging
- Use of a Laser Protection Adviser (LPA)
This course is for people wishing to be the local
Laser Safety Officer in their place of work or
organization.
Completion of both the laser user's awareness and
supervisor/management courses are a prerequisite
of the LSO course.
